TACLOBAN CITY – As part of the City Director’s thrusts of improving and strengthening the communication system of DILG-Tacloban City, a Document Tracking System (DTS) has been installed last April 25, 2013.
The DTS, which has been operational at the regional level since its inception in 2006, provides real-time reception and transmission of documents in PDF format. It is a “software that was developed in-house by DILG Regional Office 8 to effectively track down incoming and outgoing communication and how it was responded to by concerned personnel and program managers.”
Mr. Raul Malatbalat, Administrative Assistant III of DILG Regional Office 8 and designer of the system, administered its installation and provided a brief orientation on the mechanics of the DTS to the members of the DILG-Tacloban City Team. In relation thereto, he advised the team to upgrade the capacity of the office’s computers to meet the system’s specifications.
According to Mr. Malatbalat, by making the system available to the different provincial and city offices of DILG 8 it is believed to address the long time issue on its communication network. Direct online connection to the regional office would mean prompt receipt of issuances and directives as well as timely transmission of reports.
Currently, DILG-Northern Samar is already using the system and DILG Regional Office 11 in Davao has requested for its installation in 2012. He also emphasized that some local government units have availed of this freeware along with the Legislative Tracking System (LIS). These are the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Leyte and the Municipality of Babatngon, Leyte.
